With all the health challenging news about the president of Nigeria, Buhari; and his absence from sit, it is safe to say that Osibanjo is the acting President of Nigeria, he seemed to have paid listening ears to the angry protesters who filled the streets of Lagos on Monday the 6th of February 2016, rallying against the current economic state of the Country, the unbearable problems the recession is causing us.

He made a couple valid statements that sat down well with the protesters but the chief of them all was his promise that recession will soon be a thing of the past.

He praised the Police for their job well done during the Protest to ensure that no harm was made.

Here’s what he said:

“I commend the IG and his officers for handling the protests with professionalism and respect for the rights of citizens.”

“We are committed to a continuous engagement with our people to explain government policies, receive advice and criticism.

“Cabinet Ministers have gone round 8 States so far holding town hall meetings, the most recent was yesterday in Ilorin. There will be more of such meetings in the other States that are yet to be visited.

Yemi Osibanjo on recession

This is the statement we’ve all been waiting for:

“With complete focus on improving the economy every day, the recession will soon be history.”

But more than a promise or just a statement, we need action, we want to see the recession end!

We were able to get that out of his mouth because we left our houses and flooded the streets of Lagos to speak for our nation and have our voices heard, we did send words to the government as Osibanjo stated that he heard us “loud and clear”

Cheers!
