A First Date is usually your first and golden shot at winning a person’s heart, which is why you spend all week preparing for a two-hour time out with some chic or dude.

Here’s how to not ruin your chances at a first date, for someone you are just getting to know and hang out with; you can’t afford to be their next mistake, do things right and here’s how:

Never talk about your ex!

When you are with someone that likes you enough to have a date with you which is supposed to be romantic, the last thing you want to do is waste his/her time talking about your ex and all the things that have no business in the talk.

First Date

Talk less About Yourself

Definitely, a reasonable level of talk about yourself is always good, but when you make the date all about yourself probably because you are under he delusion that the other person can’t get enough of you, then you are summoning your village people to ruin things for you.

Don’t Do Too Much Sex Talk

A Date is not always something sexual, just two sweet adults with mutual interest and the first thing should be to know each other to a good extent at least. You can be the Godmother or father of sex but for a first impression and a decent date, there are a million other real things to talk about, before you leave the other person with crazy ideas of locking you in their room forever.

Hear The Other Person Talk

Don’t just form listener and nod your head like a trained Lizard, maintain eye contact and get yourself to be present in the conversation, listen to what the other person says and give your replies, don’t be too busy thinking of the next topic to bring up that you miss out on the points they’re making.

Don’t Be Afraid Of Silence

Okay, so… Silence is totally expected and even required, and holding up a conversation is a two-way thing, so if there’s an awkward silence, you aren’t the one causing it, don’t be in a hurry to break it that you say something totally off.

Do not go home with the guy

Please don’t! It’s the wrongest thing you would do, finish your date and carry your Gucci or yaba bag and it’s a wrap, go home and send the thank you text if it was really worth it.

Thee you have it, go on to the next date and save us some chocolates.

Cheers!
