The whole essence of spending the best time our lives in school and finally obeying the clarion call, is to wrap up the whole stage and prepare for the real life, the life where we have to put in every energy into making things work, finding our place in this world and simply face the next phase of our lives, squarely!

The last thing anybody wants to do is finishing service without a plan for the next phase.

Here are 5 Things you should add to your list of TO-DO, right after dropping that orange boots and Khaki.

  1. Readiness

The world belongs to the people who are constantly found ready to take on the next big stage of their lives, life in school was a lot of things; growth, learning, discovery, relationship and more, but we were only getting prepared for the real world after school. Be emotionally and psychologically ready for the huge life you are about to take on, have a deep sense of purpose to at least, keep you focused and on track.

You have completed the Service they insisted you packed your bags and go for, now it’s time to get yourself ready for a full time job. Prepare your CV in the most professional way possible, this is the time to go back to your contacts of useful people and spread the word, let s much helpful people know about your job search as possible. Just be well prepared to start out the life of a working class graduate.

What To Do After NYSC

  1. Go Back To Your Dreams

We all have dreams, big things we have drawn in our heads to do after school, the best time to go back to your dreams and be on fire for it was about three years ago, the next best time is right now.  You just might not need to work for anyone if you work twice as hard to pursue your dreams, start that business or whatever, it’s wise to have a job alongside, so you can take care of bills while you do your own thing after your 9-5.

  1. Masters?

Ideally, there’s Masters after a Degree and it’s for a good reason, in the business of earning a decent living, its always the “bigger the better” that tends to win the race. Bag yourself a Masters degree when you can and reach out for bigger opportunities.

  1. Relationship

Because it’s just as impossible as the word “impossible” to do life alone, you need your real friends and family to fill your life with fulfillment, getting a job and doing well doesn’t mean you have to let go of your old Gee’s , know the people that are totally down for you and keep in touch with them. Don’t let friendships die because life happened, carry your backbones along with you. The best advise still comes from the people that know every bit of your journey.

What To Do After NYSC

  1. When Its Time, Marriage!

After you have successfully passed the stage of job hunting and starting a life, what else do you honestly expect your mother to ask you if not the simple “when will you marry?”, your days of flirting and being a bad boy/girl ended after that NYSC thing you did, put all jokes aside and settle down when you find love.
